Street Work

K.Y.A.D.A.’s Social Services performs outreach to homeless people in the streets to promote their integration into the hostels. The Street Work on-site interventions are carried out by interdisciplinary teams consisting of social workers, psychologists, and a psychiatrist. The teams map the city’s homeless to record their needs and build relationships of trust in order to promote their transition to a homeless shelter.

During their approaches, the Street Work teams provide immediate and practical assistance (food, clothing etc.) and make referrals to medical and social services when needed.

K.Y.A.D.A. performs on-site interventions six times a day, both in the morning and at night, made possible through the procurement of a brand new fleet of cars and the recruitment of the appropriate scientific staff.

The Street Work teams “operate” in all the mapped areas where homeless people live, as well as in places indicated by the city’s inhabitants.

In extreme weather conditions, K.Y.A.D.A. remains on-call 24-hours and performs on-site interventions throughout the night (22.00-06.00) at the points indicated by the citizens and at the points where homeless people are tracked by our Street Work teams.

During their interventions, the street work teams distribute suitable clothing, meals and drinks and provide the homeless with information about the rooms available by the Municipality for their protection.

The Street Work project is funded under the act “Street-work actions of City of Athens Reception and Solidarity Center “, of the “Attica 2014-2020” O.P.
